The Flemish public transport operator De Lijn has announced that it has bought 252 new charging stations from energy and communications company SPIE for 2023-2024.

Following a framework agreement signed last year between De Lijn and SPIE-Ekoenergetyka, a new entity has been formed by the combination of SPIE Belgium and Ekoenergetyka, a Polish firm involved in electric charging infrastructure.
The contract calls for the installation, activation, and maintenance of charging stations for electric and hybrid buses at De Lijn depots. The first set of charging stations has already been supplied, installed, and placed into service since the signing of this agreement.
Encouraged by the success of their initial partnership, De Lijn has signed a fresh order its fleet of electric and hybrid buses, which will they announced on Tuesday.
“In the framework of our goal of providing emission-free public transportation by 2035, implementing the necessary charging infrastructure is a critical step, to which SPIE Belgium and Ekoenergetyka have made substantial contributions,” De Lijn’s managing director Ann Schoubs noted.
