Citroën has unveiled C5 X Hypnos, a new top-of-the-range version of C5 X showcasing the very best style and the brand’s unwavering commitment to on-board well-being. Hypnos provides customers with a serene on-board experience, offering quietness and supreme relaxation. C5 X Hypnos is Citroën’s new flagship model, with every detail carefully designed to embody style, calm, and serenity.

New C5 X Hypnos introduces an elegant new exterior body colour – Eclipse Blue – enhanced with ‘Infrared’ graphic elements. The interior features soothing new mood lighting and an airy ambience, along with distinctive colours and warm materials to create a relaxing atmosphere in the cabin.
A sense of occasion becomes immediately apparent as soon as you step inside C5 X Hypnos, thanks to features such as the panoramic glass sunroof, the quality HiFi system, and uniquely, the bespoke Hypnos floor mats. The cabin is spacious and comfortable, with an atmosphere designed to create an immediate feeling of tranquillity. New C5 X Hypnos boasts heated, massaging, and ventilated front seats with electric lumbar adjustment to ensure ultimate comfort for their occupants. Not forgetting the active suspension system and Citroën’s Advanced Comfort® seat design, as well as the high-level acoustic performance with sound-insulated front and rear windows. All these features combine to create a unique sense of well-being on-board.

Hypnos – A Name With Special Meaning
Hypnos – named after the Greek god of sleep – describes the vehicle’s impressive on-board comfort, providing total peace of mind for all occupants. Each journey in C5 X Hypnos becomes a moment of serenity, which restores energy and leaves customers feeling more rested on arrival than they were when they set off.
As a name, Hypnos holds a special meaning within Citroën’s history. At the 2008 Paris Motor Show, Citroën unveiled a hybrid concept car called Hypnos, a top-of-the-range car that was a pioneer in the development of hybrid vehicles. With the use of the Hypnos name, Citroën is emphasising the contrast between the interior and exterior, highlighting contrasts between light and dark. The exterior is a deep midnight blue, while the interior is bright and airy.
New Citroën C5 X Hypnos is available in a new Eclipse Blue body colour that changes its appearance according to the light, looking elegant in low light conditions, and becoming more dynamic in brighter conditions. To stand out from the crowd, it has long, glossy black badges across the wings and front doors, highlighted with ‘Infrared’ detailing and featuring the Hypnos signature at their centre. At the rear, the C5 X monogram uses ‘Infrared’ to highlight the number 5.
Providing choice, New C5 X is also available with a Platinum Grey body colour
New C5 X Hypnos comes with existing 19-inch ‘Aero X’ alloy wheels – but in a new colour specific to Hypnos – a combination of Onyx black and diamond effect, coated with a dark varnish. It also comes with an elegant black bi-tone roof.
Citroën’s attention to detail is demonstrated by the design of the seats, which are upholstered in light-coloured perforated leather, featuring Citroën’s signature herringbone pattern. The armrests are upholstered in the same pale leather to give the seats an inviting and comfortable appearance. The upper part of the seats and the headrests are finished in grey Alcantara®. Labels with ‘Infrared’ highlights and the Hypnos name have also been added.
The bright interior is warmed with the use of Karuun® light wood-effect decorative touches on the door panels and dashboard. The centre console has a fresh, new look in keeping with the light and airy ambience. The glossy black décor has been laser-engraved with striations in a new Xenon bronze colour for this specific model. New C5 X comes with special floor mats, the contours of which are highlighted by a special material with branding featuring the name Hypnos in Xenon bronze.
From the Citroën Advanced Comfort® seats, which offer soft and dynamic comfort, to the generous passenger space, every effort is made to create a relaxing experience. The Citroën C5 X Plug-in Hybrid 225 powertrain offers Advanced Comfort® active suspension as standard, with its ‘ultra-comfort’ setting providing driving pleasure thanks to active and continuous control of the suspension, which irons out the roughness of the road. New Citroën C5 X Hypnos opens for orders today (Monday 4 September), with first deliveries scheduled for early 2024.
