Nissan production, sales, and exports for December and 2025
Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced production, sales, and export figures for December 2025 and calendar year 2025.
For December 2025, Nissan’s global vehicle production rose compared with the same month last year, driven by higher output outside Japan. Production in Japan declined year-on-year, while overseas manufacturing saw an increase, reflecting the strategic strength of Nissan’s international production network.
Over the full January-December 2025 period, global production totaled just under 3 million vehicles, representing a decrease compared with the prior year. Both domestic Japanese production and manufacturing outside Japan declined slightly year-on-year, reflecting ongoing market headwinds and adjustments to align production with demand.
Global sales for December 2025 were lower than the prior year, continuing a trend seen throughout the calendar year. Overall, Nissan reported a full-year global sales figure in 2025 that was down from 2024, with most major regional markets recording year-on-year declines. Sales in Japan, including minivehicles, declined notably, while regions such as North America posted comparatively more resilient results.
Exports from Japanese plants also declined in both December and on a full-year basis, driven by softer overseas demand and the company’s efforts to balance shipments with production capacity.
“Our production and sales results for December and the full year reflect the challenging global automotive environment, including softer demand in key markets,” said a Nissan spokesperson. “We are advancing efforts to strengthen competitiveness, optimize our production footprint and deliver compelling products to customers worldwide.”
Nissan’s results come amid broader industry shifts, including competitive pressures in Asia and structural adjustments within the global automotive sector.
