It is reported that these 50 Higer new energy buses will be operated by Group C, the largest public transport operator in Uruguay. Group C currently operates over 1,400 buses in the capital, covering more than 120 urban and intercity routes, carrying approximately 240 million passengers annually, and accumulating a total driving distance of around 73 million kilometers. The new Higer new energy buses will be deployed on bus routes in the central area of the capital, replacing existing diesel buses and promoting the green development and modernization of public transportation in the country.

As the first member of the Southern Common Market to join the Belt and Road Initiative, Uruguay is known as the “Switzerland of South America” due to its beautiful and pleasant natural environment. The country is abundant in renewable energy, especially electricity. Therefore, Uruguay highly values the development of the new energy industry. Today, it has become one of the leaders in bus electrification in Latin America.

To meet the needs of Uruguayan users and enhance the travel experience, Higer conducted thorough research in the early stages and customized this batch of new energy buses for its clients, which include both single and double-decker models, all exceeding 12 meters in length. The buses have an impressive appearance and fashionable design, with humanized features such as soft seats and USB ports inside. With a full-charge range of up to 250 kilometers, they can meet the daily operational needs of public transportation. Given Uruguay’s terrain, which is mainly low hills with a wavy landscape, Higer equipped these buses with chassis lifting function, chassis armor, and a driver visual assistance system to adapt to local road conditions and ensure driving safety. Additionally, Higer made improvements to the handrails and call systems in the disabled area to comply with local regulatory requirements.

Since entering the Uruguayan market in 2009, Higer has won the recognition of the local market and passengers with its high-quality products and stable after-sales service, gradually expanding the influence of the “Higer Bus” brand in Uruguay. As the wave of Chinese new energy vehicles sweeps across the globe, Higer has successfully secured Uruguay’s first bulk order leveraging its years of advanced experience in new energy technologies. This achievement holds profound significance for both Higer and the global expansion of “Made in China”. These electric buses will surely provide local passengers with a greener, more environmentally friendly, and comfortable travel experience thanks to their low noise and eco-friendliness.
