Bolt, the leading European mobility platform, Pony.ai, a global leader in autonomous driving technology, and Stellantis, one of the world’s leading automakers, today announced the launch of an autonomous mobility pilot testing program in Luxembourg.

The testing program will focus on validating the safety, performance and regulatory readiness of Pony.ai’s seventh-generation (Gen-7), autonomous vehicles in Luxembourg’s traffic environment, supported by the country’s forward-looking approach to autonomous mobility testing. Stellantis will contribute its vehicle engineering and manufacturing expertise, with a midsize van based on its L4-Ready Platform™.

The partners are actively preparing the “living lab” pilot. The pilot is designed to test the technologies and operational processes required to support safe autonomous mobility in cities, from vehicle deployment and ride-hailing platform integration to fleet operations and regulatory coordination.

The pilot program builds on previously announced intended collaborations between Stellantis, Pony.ai and Bolt to advance the development and deployment of autonomous mobility solutions in Europe. The companies aim to achieve driverless readiness by the end of the pilot program. The pilot brings together complementary strengths across the value chain:

  • Bolt’s ride-hailing platform and marketplace expertise,
  • Stellantis’ L4-Ready Platforms™ as well as vehicle engineering and manufacturing expertise,
  • Pony.ai’s autonomous driving technology and operational experience.

This is Bolt’s first autonomous mobility pilot, and represents the next milestone in the company’s aim to scale autonomous mobility services across European cities with various technology partners. For Stellantis, this pilot showcases its growing partner ecosystem in Europe and advances its global driverless mobility strategy based on L4-Ready Platforms™ .

Markus Villig, Founder and CEO of Bolt, said: “Autonomous mobility technology is already transforming transportation around the world, and as the only independent, European-founded ride-hailing platform competing globally, we want to be at the forefront of scaling this revolutionary technology in Europe. We welcome Luxembourg’s progressive approach to testing this technology and we are excited to work closely with our European partner Stellantis, and global software leader Pony.ai to launch further pilots in the future.”
Dr. James Peng, Founder and CEO of Pony.ai, stated: “Luxembourg’s forward-looking regulatory environment provides a strong foundation for autonomous mobility testing in Europe. Together with Bolt and Stellantis, we look forward to validating Pony.ai’s technology in local traffic scenarios and supporting the responsible development of autonomous mobility across the region.”
Ned Curic, Chief Engineering and Technology Officer, Stellantis, said: “Autonomous mobility can make transportation more accessible and affordable for customers. At Stellantis, our L4-Ready Platforms™ are designed to deliver flexible, scalable solutions across multiple vehicle segments. By working with partners like Bolt and Pony.ai, we aim to bring driverless mobility into everyday life in a way that is safe, efficient and easy to use.”
